Dear P.S. 36 Community,
My name is Angelic Cevallos and I am so excited to be the Parent Coordinator for the school. I have been at this school since 2015 and enjoy being around the students very much. Before I was the school's Parent Coordinator I was the Family Worker for the school's IEP Team.
I always want to encourage open and honest communication. I am a firm believer that it definitely takes an village to raise your child. We have developed a series of Parent Workshops that serve as "check-in's" throughout the year so you can see where your child is in both in English and Mathematics. These informative workshops also allow you to ask questions and give you an opportunity to develop new tools to help your child grow and succeed. You can find these events on the Parent Bulletin or on the Parent Engagement Flyer. Attendance is highly encouraged and light refreshments will be served. I cannot wait to see you at a future event!
Attendance is very important to our school. Children should be coming to school everyday. We open our doors at 7:40AM for Breakfast. You may drop your child off at this time where they will be supervised until the day starts at 8:20. If for any reason your child cannot make it to school, please call the Attendance Team or send a note once they return to school. As part of our attendance initiatives, classes that have more than 95% of the students coming to school everyday will be receiving a banner that they can hang outside their door! Families who are having difficulty with Arrival and Dismissal should reach out so we can see if a solution can be found.
Our community is very special because we are so diverse. Our school itself is a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds of people hailing from all over the world. If you require language assistance and translation, we have staff members that are fluent in many languages, including Arabic, Bengali, French, and Spanish. We are always available to assist you in anything you may need. Please come and talk to us.
During the month of March, we will be handing out Parent Surveys. Please help us complete these surveys. If you have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to us.
At PS 36 one of our main objectives are to always keep parents involved not just in their child's education but to seek their input for schoolwide decision making. If you have any suggestions or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or stop by the school to speak to me. You can also E-Mail me at any time.
I look forward to working with you this school year!
