Assistant Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Welcome back to another year at P.S.36x ! We are all committed to making sure your child has a safe and productive learning experience this year. The door to my office is always open for you, feel free to ask any question at any time you feel the need to.
As Assistant Principal at P.S. 36 since 2005, I have always enjoyed seeing the children coming in as Pre-K and Kindergarten students with their fresh faces excited to come to school and learn new things. I watch them grow to become young adults when they graduate from here and become successful. As Assistant Principal of the lower grades, I believe that this is the most crucial time for them to think and grow. This is when they become interested in Mathematics and Science and have a innocent curiosity toward their subjects. At this age they begin to discover the wonderful power of reading and imagination that goes with it. Thus, I encourage you to become partners in your child's education. Our library is always open for parents and students to come in and take books out. We must work together at this age to make sure they become and continue to be interested in school. I encourage you to attend monthly meetings, workshops, and other school events. Please visit the Parent resources section of our website to view the Parent Handbook which discussed items of major importance regarding the school schedule, expectations, and safety procedures.
We offer many incentives for our students to come to school. At the end of every month we have Attendance Award Assemblies to honor the children who come to school without fail each and every school day. Since we are a Positive Behavior Intervention School, we host a "Starbuck Store", where children who have accumulated "Starbucks" for excellent behavior and doing exceptionally well in their courses. We believe that Students need to be the leaders of their own learning, we host our Annual Math Carnival around the beginning of June where we set up a real carnival complete with a bouncy house- all you need to do is solve math problems to get in. Since it is Student led, teachers do not write these math problems but, the children do !
As we strive to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment, we ask students, staff, parents and the community to join together to ensure that P.S. 36 is an exemplary learning institution.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
